On October 4, 2009, Shonan Kamakura General Hospital became the first certified and accredited Hospirate Hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture. The Hospirate is a certification project granted by the EJNET to certify that a hospital has proper and pleasant working conditions. The EJNET, a non-profit organization authorized by the Japanese government, helps to support and restart the careers of women in the medical profession to balance work and family.

At SKGH, we believe that a hospital with a good work environment and a management system based on "work-life balance" attracts and retains talented employees who are committed to their work, but also considers quality of life outside of work to be an important factor in job satisfaction. While the nationwide physician shortage is intensifying, it is increasingly important for hospitals to recognize this balance.
