General Information

Do you accept private insurance?

Yes. Please contact insurance company and request to provide us GOP (Guarantee of Payment) as soon as your visiting date is settled. Please note that if we do not receive GOP on the day of your visit, please pay us full amount and reimburse by yourself. Please contact International Medical Support Center for detailed information.

Do you accept credit card?

If you have Japanese Health Insurance, we accept credit card only for Inpatient fee. For Outpatient fee, please pay by cash.
If you do not have Japanese Health Insuranse, we accept credit card for Outpatient and Inpatient fee.

*Please note that we charge 20 yen per 1 medical remuneration points.

What are visiting hours at Shonan Kamakura General Hospital?

Visiting hours on the wards are as follows:

Weekdays 15:00~20:00
Weekends and Holidays 13:00~20:00

All visitors to the wards are requested to obtain a pass to visit a patient at the information desk on the first floor. (F1 #7) Once approved, you are issued a dated pass that must be worn at all times.

Where should I go if I lose something in the hospital?

Lost and found is located at the general information desk in the main lobby on the 1st floor. Stop in or call during weekdays from 7:00 to 17:00 and ask for your item. Please note that the hospital will not be held responsible for any lost personal items.

What are the clinic opening hours at Shonan Kamakura General Hospital?

General Consultation Service Hours

Morning hours:

7:30 ~ 12:00

  • For patients visiting more than two departments, we ask you to arrive no later than 11:00.
  • For patients visiting more than three departments, we ask you to arrive no later than 10:30.
  • For Plastic Surgery and Diagnostic Tests, we ask you to arrive no later than 11:00.
  • For patients visiting Opthalmorogy, we ask you to arrive no later than 11:30.
  • For patients visiting Internal Medicine the first time, we ask you to arrive no later than 11:30.
Afternoon hours:

12:30 ~

  • Days and hours vary by department. Please call for more information.
Evening hours:

16:45 ~ 19:00

  • Days and hours vary by department. Please call for more information.

  • Patients with appointments should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment to register.

Some departments are by appointment only. Please ask the clerk at the reception desk or call +81-467-46-1717 for further details regarding operating hours.

Do you provide out-of-hours/holiday services?

The out-of-hours/holiday service is only for urgent medical problems that cannot wait until the next working day to be treated.

The Shonan Emergency Room (ER) provides emergency medical services 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Please refer to Emergency/Out-of-Hours reception counter number 8.

Do I need an appointment for a Private Medical Check Up?

Yes. Please call/visit our Healthcare Center for further information or to schedule an appointment.

Hospital Services and Facilities

What kind of medical equipment do you have?

Shonan Kamakura General Hospital is constantly evolving with the latest technology and procedures. We offer a wide range of diagnostic imaging services including the 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI Scanner), 320 multi-slice CT Scanner and the TomoTherapy® HI-ART system for radiotherapy treatment of cancer.

A physician referral is required to schedule imaging procedures.
We provide inpatient and outpatient services.
Our Healthcare Center also offers Private Medical Check Up programs to clients who are interested in preventive health measures with the highest quality care and the latest technology.

Where do I park? Is your visitor parking free?

We have a lower ground parking lot with a total of 259 parking spaces.

Fee: ¥200 for two hours,
Please use the parking ticket dispenser to purchase parking time.

Where are the ATMs (Cash Dispensers)?

ATMs are located in Lawson on the first floor of the main building.

Do you have a restaurant?

No, but there is Doutor's coffee shop on the first floor, offering sandwiches, beverages and desserts. Snack items are also available at Lawson convenience store.

Is there a shop in the hospital?

Yes, a 24-hour Lawson convenience store is located on the 1st floor beside Doutor's coffee shop. You can buy flowers and everyday items at Lawson.

Are there nursing rooms ?

Yes. There are two nursing rooms in the hospital. One is in the Pediatric department on the 1st floor and the other is in the Plastic Surgery department on the 3rd floor.

Are there any laundry facilities at the hospital?

A 24-hour self-service launderette is available on each patient ward. You need to purchase a prepaid card to operate the washers and dryers.
Prepaid cards are available at the Nurse Station Counter. Please ask the nurse if you need assistance.

Does the hospital have internet access?

Wired LAN internet connection is available in private rooms only. If you need assistance, please go to the staff station.
Please note that in-house technical support is not available.
There are no internet services in outpatient areas or general patient wards.
